Asbestos in bulk materials
Are you carrying out renovation works? Don't put your health and that of those around you in danger; request asbestos analyses!
Asbestos was used in construction for almost a century. Its unique thermal and electrical insulation properties as well as its resistance to friction made it an essential material for industry.
However, its use presents a danger to health: when asbestos is stressed, the fibres may be released into the air and inhaled by people nearby. The dimensions of these fibres and their high resistance means they penetrate deep into the lungs to the point that they become entrenched. As these fibres cannot be removed by the body, they cause lesions in the lungs and may lead to thickening of the pleura (lung envelope) or to various pulmonary cancers.
